“Are you gonna yell at a black man about discrimination?" [51:41]
Point 3
Similar to the “ice cream” comment, Chappelle turns the conversation about sexual assault into racial suffering. Contextually, a white woman heckles Chappelle and accuses him of discriminating against the female experience as sexual assault victims. However, he takes “offence” [51:34] at this accusation and claims that a white woman cannot yell at a black man about discrimination. He immediately dismisses the essence of the heckling, essentially silencing the woman, and victimises himself while hypocritically criticising her for using “comparative suffering” [52:29] when she tries to unite gender and race. He therefore appears unsympathetic to sexual assault victims, and instead tries to manoeuvre racial suffering above female suffering.
